Subject: Sideline Conduct and Respect for Coaches
Date: 15/05/2025
Dear Members,
It is with disappointment that we address a matter that strikes at the very heart of what Raheens GAA/LGFA stands for โ respect, integrity, and community spirit.
In recent weeks, there have been a number of unacceptable incidents where coaches and team mentors have been verbally abused by parents or members on the sidelines during matches. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
We wish to remind all members that the GAA/LGFA Code of Behaviour, which applies to all involved in our games โ including players, mentors, parents, and supporters โ sets out clear expectations:
๐น โSupporters should respect all officials, coaches, and volunteers. Abusive or threatening behaviour has no place in our games.โ
๐น โParents/Guardians have a duty to behave responsibly and to support the efforts of mentors and officials in a constructive and respectful way.โ
Our coaches and volunteers give their time, energy, and commitment freely for the benefit of our players. They deserve respect and support, not confrontation or abuse.
Any verbal abuse, intimidation, or aggressive behaviour directed at coaches, mentors, or match officials may result in disciplinary action, including possible suspension or removal from club activities.
Let us all remember: We are here for the players. We are here to build character, community, and pride in the Raheens jersey. That is only possible in an environment of mutual respect.
We ask for your full support and cooperation in ensuring that the spirit of our games are always upheld.
Is mise le meas,
